NORCAL Players of the Week!

Ben Brooks - Sacramento City

Sacramento City College LHP Ben Brooks has been named the the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association’s (CCCBCA) baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of February 18th –February 24th, it was announced on Tuesday.

Ben, a sophomore from Bella Vista High School threw seven scoreless innings against #9 ranked Riverside College giving up 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 BB’s and fanning 11. He now has 31k’s in 25.1 innings pitched with only 4 BB’s.

Brooks is the first Panther to earn CCCBCA Pitcher of the Week honors. 

 

Ricky McColloch - Merced

Ricky started all three games against Porterville at shortstop.  He batted number two in the line-up and had an outstanding series with a .416 batting average, and .528 on-base percentage.  In 15 trips to the plate he was 5 hits for 12 at-bats, 3 walks, 4 runs scored, 5 RBIs, 1 double, and 2 triples.  His 5 RBIs, and two triples lead the team.  Going into the bottom of the sixth inning the game was tied 2-2.  With Ryan Emerald, Jacob Schultz, and Nick Mello on base, Ricky hit a triple that cleared the bases and broke open the game.  The Blue Devils ended up scoring 7 runs in the sixth inning.

McColloch is the first Blue Devil to earn CCCBCA Player of the Week honors.
