  • 02.23.12 - Cerritos provides run support in 11-6 win
It took 19 days, but the Cerritos College baseball team was able to secure their third win of the season after they defeated Los Angeles Valley College, 11-6 in a non-conference game at Kincaid Field on Thursday. The last time the Falcons (3-8) won a game was back on February 4 when they defeated the same Monarchs (4-5) team, 11-10, after falling behind 10-0 three innings into the game. The win also snapped a seven-game losing streak. Cerritos will now travel to Glendale College next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in their final non-conference game before starting defense of their South Coast Conference title. One of the keys to the win was the hitting of the 8-9-1 batters in the lineup, as they went a combined 10-for-17 and scored four of the team's runs. Every batter in the lineup had at least one hit, as the Falcons clubbed a season-high 18 hits on the day...

But on both occasions, the Falcons were able to turn things around and win the South Coast Conference championship. On Tuesday, Cerritos dropped their seventh in a row, a 10-4 non-conference decision to Glendale College to fall to 2-8 on the season. The team will host Los Angeles Valley College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Kincaid Field in a rain make-up from last week...
