2018 Outlook Bright for Bakersfield College

Bakersfield College's Bright Outlook

Bakersfield College baseball head coach Tim Painton prefers not set goals prior to seasons because of the pressure it can place on his players. But based on his analysis of his own team, it’s clear the expectations for 2018 are higher than the year before.

“I think we’re a much improved defensive team over a year ago,” Painton said. “... I think once we get into the season, we’ll be a much better offensive team as well. We’re excited to get going and see how we match up.”

BC opens the season at home against Moorpark on Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. as part of the Bakersfield College Tournament. The Renegades will play Sequoias on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. and Fullerton on Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. BC is hoping its perceived advantages over last year’s squad will turn into more wins than the 16-24 record from 2017.
