Garrett Boothe - Merced College

Merced College player Garrett Boothe has been named the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association’s (CCCBCA) baseball Player of the Week for the week of April 8th –April 14th, it was announced on Tuesday.

Garrett Boothe led the offensive power surge the Blue Devils had versus Taft College last week.  While the Blue Devils won 3-0 on Tuesday, they defeated the Cougars 11-3, and 12-4 on Thursday and Saturday with an offensive explosion.  In those two games alone, Garrett hitting in the sixth spot in the lineup was 6 for 7 batting (.857 batting average) with 4 runs scored, 6 RBIs, 3 doubles, and 1 homerun.  On Thursday Garrett went 4-4, 3 runs scored, 3 RBIs, and 3 doubles.  His three doubles in the 11-3 victory tied a school record for doubles in a single game first set back in 1981.  For the week he was 7-11, 4 runs scored, 6 RBIs, 3 doubles, and 1 homerun for a .636 batting average, and 1.182 slugging- percentage.  Coming into the week Garrett was batting .259.  After last week his batting average soared to .319.

Boothe is the second Blue Devil to earn CCCBCA Player of the Week honors. Ricky McColloch was selected for the week of February 18th

 

Jake Pannunzio - MPC

Monterey Peninsula College freshman LHP Jake Pannunzio has been named the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association’s (CCCBCA) baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 1st –April 7th, it was announced on Tuesday.

Jake (6’ 180) pitched a complete game shutout Saturday, April 13th vs. Cabrillo College.  He gave up only 2 hits, 7 strikeouts, ZERO walks, 0 runs, in 9 innings pitched.

Jake is the second Lobo to earn CCCBCA Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Garret Woodward was selected the week of February 11th
