Chris May

College of the Canyons sophomore right fielder Chris May turned in a spectacular three-game series vs. conference opponent Victor Valley College, finishing a combined 7-for-13 at the plate with two home runs, 10 RBIs and five runs scored, while extending his current hitting streak to 10 games.

May’s offensive output was highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance vs. the Rams in game two of Friday’s doubleheader, in which the sophomore finished a double shy of the cycle while recording six RBIs, three runs and a stolen base.

May is leading the Cougars with a .384 batting average and ranks second on the squad with 22 RBIs. He has hit safely in all but three games this season.

McKinley Lefore

After a rough start last week against No. 5 Saddleback, Orange Coast College starting pitcher McKinley LeFore bounced back in a big way on Friday against No. 6 Cypress.

The freshman righty from Camas (WA) High School pitched a complete-game shutout against the Chargers to lead the Pirates to a 1-0 win at Cypress College on Friday to help Coast maintain its lead atop the Orange Empire Conference standings.

LeFore allowed just four hits over nine innings with one walk and three strikeouts against a potent Cypress offense. For the season, LeFore is 5-0 with a 2.41 ERA, helping the Pirates (21-3) earn the state's No. 1 ranking. LeFore's CG is the first of the season for Coast in 2017.
