Merced College’s Chris Pedretti Wins His 800th!!

The Blue Devils helped give Head Coach Chris Pedretti his 800th career JC win. What is even more fitting, is that it came against arch rival Fresno City College. His 800th puts him in a select group of current and former coaches.

With 798 wins, Pedretti needed to win two games from Fresno City College.  On Tuesday the Blue Devils beat Fresno 9-4, setting up tonight’s game in Merced.  Off to a quick start, the Blue Devils lead after the first inning 3-2 and extended it to a 5-2 lead after six innings.  Fresno came back in the seventh with three runs with a bases clearing double.  Not to be denied, the Blue Devils came back in the bottom of the eighth when Asuka Hashimoto bunted, and Jesus Duran scored from third giving the Blue Devils a thrilling 6-5 win.

With the win Chris Pedretti won his 800th game, and the Blue Devils propelled to the top of the Central Valley Conference.  Currently Chris Pedretti has 803 wins and counting.  He has coached the Blue Devils for 34 of the last 35 years (taking a sabbatical in 2013).  In that time his teams have won four conference championships (1983, 1985, 2009 & 2011), and made the post season in 21 years.
