It is with great pleasure that the CCCBCA announces the 2014 recipient of the Doyle Scholarship.

Justin Hearn from Mission College is our 2014 recipient.

Justin is a  Freshman third baseman who will be transferring to UCSB in the fall. Justin carried a 3.87 GPA at Mission and was selected to the Dean 's List.Justin earned All conference honors in the Coast Conference as well as being selected  to the CCCBCA All-State team. Justin plans to major in sociology, history or psychology and eventually earn a Masters degree in Kinesiology.

Justin 's parents were both long time California Community College coaches. Mom Terri , the Women's Basketball at San Jose City and Father Les coached softball at West Valley.

The parental influence of Terri and Les helped Justin to realize the many opportunities available in our system for the student athlete. Justin was recruited by Oregon State, Long Beach State and UC Davis before making his choice of UCSB. Justin was not offered a DI scholarship out of high school.

Justin credits Mission College

coaches Mike Perez, Mike Luna and Sam Piraro with refining his skills as a player and his development as a student athlete. Creating an academic plan that insured transfer possibility after his freshman year was a combined effort of the coaches and Justin.

Justin is very active in the community where he works at the Campbell Community Center as a Sports Camp Counselor . Justin also volunteers as an assistant JV baseball coach at the local high school .

Justin- Congratulations from the CCCBCA!
