Delta Trio Combines For No Hitter

2-27-20 Three Delta pitchers combined for a no hitter Thursday as the Mustangs rolled to a 17-0 victory over Modesto Junior College. Kohl Drake threw 6 2/3 of no-hit baseball before coming out for a pitch count. Drake earned his first win recording five strikeouts while yielding one walk and one hit by pitch. The sophomore southpaw has given up just three hits this season in 17.3 innings while posting an ERA of 1.02.

Nate Morris relieved Drake after he reached 99 pitches in the seventh inning. Morris threw an inning and a third recording one strikeout while hitting one batter. As with any no hitter there is usually one great play that preserves it. Such a play occurred in the bottom of the eighth. After Morris hit a batter, Anthony Escalade hit a ground ball up the middle. Second Baseman Tommy Rover ranged behind second base, backhanded the groundball and in one motion flipped the ball with his glove to shortstop Kemet Brown who threw on to first for the double play.

Beau Peters came in the ninth to with the task of completing the no hitter. He made quick work of it getting a groundball to first, a strikeout, and ending it with a flyball to leftfield.

Offensively, the Mustangs were paced by Dillon Tatum (3-3 with 3 rbi), Jack Colville (2-4, 2B, 3B, 4 rbi) and Richie Kabasinskas (2-2, SF 3 rbi)
