SoCal Players of The Week - Week 8

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

JACKSON CLOUD - CUESTA COLLEGE, WESTERN STATE NORTH

Freshman Right-hander authored his second complete game shutout with a five-hit shutout at LA Pierce.  Cloud struckout eight Brahmas on his way to his fifth win of the season, against zero losses.  Cloud's victory marked the Cougars only win of their three-game series with Pierce.

On the season, Cloud is 5-0 over seven starts and 43.2 innings.  He has whiffed 39 batsmen this year and owns a 1.44 ERA.  His pair of whitewashings trail only Brendan Jenkins's trio of shutouts in 2015 on the Cougars all time leader board.  His current ERA is 0.12 lower than Brian Bird's school record of 1.56 (Min 60 IP)

Jakob, the son of MLB All-Star closer Eddie Guardado, incredibly pitched two 9-inning complete game victories in the same calender week!

He is a returning All-South Coast Conference Second Team selection and starts as the team's rightfielder when he doesn't pitch.
