February 12th, 2015

Jose Haros - College of the Canyons

The CCCBCA is proud to announce Canyons shortstop, Jose Haros as this week’s Player of the Week.  On Thursday, Feb.5, COC defeated Allan Hancock 13-2. COC sophomore shortstop Jose Haros finished the game 5-for-5 to become just the second Cougar in the last 15 years to hit for the cycle. Haros got things started with a single in the first inning, and came back up in the second to club a two-run homer, extending COC's lead 5-2. Not satisfied with just two hits, the shortstop went on to record a long triple — hit over the head of the Hancock center fielder — in the bottom of the fifth inning. He then recorded an RBI double in the next inning to complete the cycle, before knocking his fifth and final hit, a single, in the seventh inning. He also scored three runs and tallied three RBIs in leading Canyons to victory. In COC’s next game vs. SD Mesa on Saturday, Haros recorded two more hits and three RBIS. Haros concluded COC’s recent three-game home stand (Feb. 3, 5, 7) 9-for-14 (.642 avg), with six RBIs and four runs scored.
