The 2012 season will start with eight new head coaches leading their programs. Some are in very successful programs and others are
programs looking for stability.
Jonathan Holmes takes over at Cerro Coso College after having starred there in the late 90's. He was previously at Burroughs High School as their head coach.
Jeff Walker at Santa Barbara City College inherited at program that won the Western State Conference, North Division Championship last year. Jeff is a former CCCAA player and assistant coach. He has been a high school coach and athletic director and a DI assistant.
At West Hills College Michael Curran takes on the task of replacing long time coach Archie Hodsdon who passed away last year during the season. Coach Curran has the background and enthusiasm to establish his program.
Erick Burns has taken over at Yuba College for long time coach Tim Gloyd. Erick has worked in the Yuba College program before as a pitching coach. He returns to Yuba after serving as an assistant at Sierra College
West Valley College, a perennial Coast Conference- Golden Gate Division contender is now being led by Rick Weins. Rick assumed the reins last year in mid-season as an interim head coach. His leadership and passion led WVC administration to remove the interim tag.
John Welker is the new head coach at College of the Desert. John is COD's fourth head coach in three years and hopes to bring some much needed stability.
Frank Avilla, who has been around the Lassen College program for years was named head coach after last season. Frank will bring a renewed committment to recruiting and getting the Cougars to become contenders in the Golden Valley Conference
CCCBCA Hall of Famer Steve Ward returns to the program that he led for years. The very successful Diablo Valley College program is coming off a Big 8 Championship and a number one seed in Northern California in 2011. Head coach Mike Neu resigned to become the pitching at Cal. Coach Ward graciously agreed to take over the program.
