Don Sneddon 2012 CCCCA Achievement Award Winner

Don Sneddon - CCCCA Coaches Achievement Award 2012

Don Sneddon has been coaching at Santa Ana College for the past 31 years. To put that into perspective, IBM was building their personal computers in a garage. Coach Sneddon is the winningest California Community College coach in history. He starts the 2012 season with 1025 wins.

As a product of Cerritos College and Wally Kincaid's program Don is challenging his mentor in earning the respect of his peers. Santa Ana College has won 16 Orange Empire Championships, the last five in succession, has gone to the State Championships eight times and has won three State Championships. The Don's have advanced to the Super Regionals an incredible 24 seasons in a row. The fact that Santa Ana College has twice changed their name has not changed the excellence in the program.

Coach Sneddon has also been involved in baseball beyond the college. He coached in the Alaska Collegiate League, with the Fairbanks Goldpanners, winning the National Baseball Congress National Championship in 1981. In the 90's he took a group of community college players to a tournament in Taiwan. He also was apart of USA Baseball 1992 National Olympic Team as an assitant coach.

Don has also served on the CCCBCA Executive Committee as a representative from the Orange Empire Conf erence and he has been on the ABCA's "Lefty Gomez" Committee. He has played a significant role in the development of Santa Ana College's fitness center program, the Fire Technology Fitness Certification Program and the athletic department's Hall of Fame.

Under his leadership over 200 players have transferred, more then 100 have signed professional contracts with several realizing the dream of playing in the "Big Leagues". Many former players are still in the game as coaches, scouts, broadcasting, and even in a MLB front office.

Congratulations to Coach Don Sneddon, who truely is a coach who's achievements are without peer.
