PCC Court of Champions/Hall of Famer Irv Noren Passed Away at 94

Irv Noren, a member of the inaugural Pasadena City College Sports Hall of Fame Class of 1961, has died at the age of 94. Noren is also an original member of the PCC Dick Ratliff Court of Champions, his bronze bust immortalized on campus next to Robinson Stadium and the GM-Athletics Facility.

Noren passed away at his home in Carlsbad on Nov. 15.

Noren touched different eras in sports history as a student-athlete first at Pasadena Junior College during World War II when he was a 2-sport star in basketball and baseball. He was the State Player of the Year leading the 1942-1943 PJC men's basketball team to a conference title. Ironically, he played with all-time PJC great Jackie Robinson on the Los Angeles Red Devils independent pro basketball team before, like Robinson, his baseball talents took him another direction. Noren also played with basketball icon George Mikan on the Chicago American Gears pro basketball squad.
